Time flies, summer holiday nearly comes to an end, so does our Chinese Club Co-practice Project for Medical Students. Started early June, the project has gotten ten students involved, half Nepalese, half Chinese. It is my creation to launch this eye-opening project. Since 2001, the population of intentional students has been skyrocketing, which poses an ideal evironment for oversea and domestic students communication. I began to wonder about ways to broaden both Nepalese and Chinese students understanding of each other's cultures, not only by handing them textbooks.
"what would happen,"I thought in my mind,"if students are able to meet on a platform what allowed an equal exchange? What if they could learn with and from each other, not just about each other?"
the platforms are the Word Wide Web(Chinese Club website), and the associated activities like Co-practice in the hospital, Culture travel programme, etc.
it is my expectation that students can overcome the language hurdles in those programmes and benefit from each other. Working with Chinese students in the hospital, intelnational students are able to communicate with the patients and teacher, and read the history, which are crucial for their internship. Likewise, Chinese students in this programme get a chance to build up a stronger foundation for medial career, as well as improve English skills.
Hopefully, in the future, I can convince more students to take part in these exchange project and make a difference.
